Dear Putnam Valley Community:
Here are the weekly updates and important reminders:
School Budget Vote: The 2021-2022 School Budget passed (430 – 309), I would like to thank all of the members of the Putnam Valley community that came out and supported our school budget. I’m hopeful that through renewed parental engagement opportunities next school year that we will see an increase in voter turnout next year. I would welcome feedback from anyone who did not support this year’s budget and would like to discuss how to best balance the needs of our community and the students in our schools.
Updated End of Year Guidance: We received confirmation early today that our end-of-year events will be governed by the newly updated NYSDOH guidance. Highlights of that guidance that pertain to our events are below.
Indoor Ceremonies – Up to 250 Individuals (No testing or vaccinations required)
Outdoor Ceremonies – Up to 500 Individuals (No testing or vaccinations required)
Board Trustee Election: Congratulations to Barbara Parmly and Helen Horvitz who were elected to the Board of Education. We would like to again extend our gratitude to Guy Cohen for his 30+ years of voluntary service to the Putnam Valley School District.

School Calendar Change:
Thursday, June 24: ½ day for ES and MS students, HS students are in their Regents Week – last day of testing.
Friday, June 25: No school for ES and MS students, Rating Day for the HS.
Yesterday, our first grade classes enjoyed a visit from Two By Two Zoo. Thank you to the community for supporting this program made possible through the PTA’s Arts In Education. It was great to see the students outside, enjoying a beautiful day and learning about the ball python, madagascar hissing cockroach, lemurs, goats, chickens and kangaroos and how even though they don’t look alike, a tortoise and rabbit can be best friends. You can find additional pictures on our District Facebook page @ Putnam Valley Central School District.
Have a great weekend!
