Dear Putnam Valley Community:
As chilly mornings begin to giveaway to sunny afternoons, our schools continue to buzz with activities. The spring is a season of performances across all three buildings. Putnam Valley Elementary School brought smiles to everyone’s face with their performance of Seussical Kids, Putnam Valley Middle School captivated audiences with their performance of Anatasia, and Putnam Valley High School will begin their musical performance of Rent this weekend, Friday 4/26, Saturday 4/27 and Sunday 4/28. Be sure to get your tickets here.
Prior to our April 11 Board of Education meeting, several of our fourth-grade students showcased their Science Fair projects, leaving us all impressed with their ingenuity and presentation skills. These students led the Pledge of Allegiance for the meeting attendees and received well-deserved recognition for their exceptional work. At the same meeting, high school student Sierra Gabriel was presented with Pride In Putnam Valley for her outstanding efforts in promoting and celebrating our high school athletic teams and memorializing meaningful moments for many of our student-athletes. You can get a glimpse of our impressive students here (Fourth grade scientists) and here (Sierra). Congratulations to our hard-working students and to the dedicated adults who guide them along their journey.
Further congratulations are in order for staff members recommended to receive tenure: Nicole D’Addona (HS Social Studies), Kristan McCarty (ES General Education), and Erin Fazzino (ES General Education). As we celebrate these achievements, we extend heartfelt wishes for a happy and healthy retirement to two of our deeply valued teachers, PVMS Math teacher Mrs. Phyllis Conlin and PVES Music teacher Mrs. Madeleine Calhoun. (April 16 Meeting)
The spring season is also when we finalize our proposed budget for the upcoming year and when community members are asked to cast a ballot. This year’s budget has been presented during several board meetings, budget advisory sessions have been held, and presentations have been provided to the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) organization. Our goal, as always, is to ensure all community members are equipped with accurate and timely information to make well-informed decisions. Budget information and presentations are available on the district website, with video presentations also available. Please watch for additional budget details which will be mailed to all PVCSD residents.
All board meeting videos are available in their entirety on our website: https://pvcsd.org/index.php/category/district/boe-videos/
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeremy Luft
