Good afternoon,
As many of you may have already heard, Governor Cuomo has closed all schools across New York State for the remainder of the school year. While we understand this decision was made after considering the public health risks associated with reopening, it is still devastating news to many. The Putnam Valley School District remains committed to providing quality distance learning opportunities, meal service, and childcare for essential workers for the remainder of the closure period.
Although many expected that schools would likely be closed for the year, hearing it certainly has an emotional impact on everyone, especially our students. Touch base with your children, remind them they are safe, they are supported, and that things will one day return to normal.
Please take care of yourself and your family and let us know if there is any way we can help. We are all in this together, and we will all help one another through these difficult times. I will continue to update you as our administrative team continues to work together to best support our students, staff and families.
I hope that everyone finds some time to get outside and enjoy the nice weather this weekend. Take care and stay well.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeremy Luft
Superintendent of Schools
