Good morning,
The search for the next principal of Putnam Valley High School began immediately after receiving word of Dr. Sepe’s departure. Due to time constraints, an interim position makes the most sense and our first priority was to find an educational leader who would continue the great work that is currently underway at PVHS. We quickly reached the conclusion that the right person was already present in the building and we are happy to announce that Mr. Matt Mello will be recommended to the Board of Education to be appointed as the interim principal of PVHS for the 2022-23 school year.
Mr. Mello is eager to accept this new role and will be ready to hit the ground running in September. I know that the Putnam Valley school community will embrace Mr. Mello as the new leader of Putnam Valley High School and that his leadership will allow the building to continue to excel. Mr. Mello has worked in the Putnam Valley School District for twenty-one years, first as a teacher and more recently as the high school assistant principal. Mr. Mello brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience to this new role. I have great confidence that Mr. Mello is the right person for the job.
We will immediately begin the process of filling the assistant principal position at the high school. We once again thank Dr. Sepe for her many years of committed service to the students and staff of Putnam Valley High School.
