Dear Putnam Valley Community:
We believe open communication helps us provide the safest environment for students, therefore, I am writing to inform you of a recent incident. On the evening of Wednesday, January 8, there was a physical altercation involving one of our students and a student from a neighboring school district. Our School Resource Officer and Athletic Director quickly responded and diffused the situation. Our high school principal and assistant principal promptly began an investigation of the incident which is ongoing. We have been in direct contact with the other school district and they have also initiated an investigation. At this time, the matter is in the hands of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and the district is not able to comment further as this is an active investigation.
Student safety remains our highest priority.
