Dear Putnam Valley Community:
As we reach the end of our second week of instruction, we could not be more impressed by the resiliency of our students. Upon returning to unfamiliar looking classrooms filled with staggered rows of desks, our students have quickly adapted right back into learning. We have mastered the ability to read a student’s emotions through their eyes and it is evident they are excited to be back at school.
Our dedicated professional staff continues to refine their instructional practices as we all work to determine how to best educate all students during these unprecedented times. Nobody expected perfection day one, but we have been extremely impressed by the thought and effort that is going into the planning and execution of daily lessons.
As we anticipated, finding the balance between in-school and at-home learners remains an area of focus across all three buildings. We are asking all parents to continue to follow the parent and student expectations that were shared prior to the reopening of schools. We know that a remote learning experience will never replace in-person learning, but we are continuing to evolve and determine how to best engage and support those learners who are not in the school buildings.
Please continue to follow public health precautions and reinforce those behaviors we expect of students while in school. Our students have already demonstrated their willingness to follow the health and safety guidelines while in school, please make sure they continue to do the same outside of school.
Thank you for your continued partnership, your children bring joy back into our buildings that have been absent of learners for too long.
