  1. The Putnam Valley CSD is pleased to announce that the district will be offering a Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Program for 4-year-olds that reside in the Putnam Valley School Students must be 4 years of age prior to December 1, 2025. The program will be housed in the Modular Building located behind Putnam Valley Elementary School.
  2. The YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester will be partnering with us to provide this They follow the Scholastic Pre-K My Way Curriculum, and they also use the Heggerty and Fundations Pre-K literacy programs that our K-4 students use.

  4. Since we do not have enough space for every 4-year-old that resides in the district to attend the UPK Program, students will be chosen by random Registration for the Putnam Valley CSD UPK lottery will be open until May 30, 2025. The opening of the lottery will be published as a public notice, in weekly emails to families in our 3 schools, on our school signs, on our website, and in our local library. Please use this link to a form to complete for registration into the UPK lottery.
  5. On June 2, 2025, potential UPK students will be chosen at random. The selection process will be live-streamed on our website (PVCSD.org). Emails will then be sent to all families who entered the lottery. Students selected will have until June 30 to complete the District’s registration process. Ten student names will be drawn following the completion of the selection lottery and added to a waitlist.
  6. Once the registration deadline of June 30 passes, any unfilled spots will be offered to those students on a waitlist. If the waitlist is exhausted, a new drawing will take place.
  7. Children attending the UPK program must register with the Putnam Valley Central School District and also with the Parents use the Putnam Valley CSD website to register as a student under STUDENT REGISTRATION at this registration link. The YMCA will send a separate email with their registration procedures.
  8. Students who receive services under the Committee for Preschool Special Education (CPSE), such as Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT), Speech, OT, and PT, are eligible to register for the lottery, and they can receive services while attending the UPK
  9. The program follows the PVCSD school calendar. The program runs daily from 9:30 am – 2:30 pm, and parents are responsible for all transportation. The YMCA will offer childcare between the hours of 7:00 am until 9:30 am and 2:30 pm until 6:00 pm. Childcare before or after the UPK day will require an agreement between the YMCA and the parent and will be provided at a cost to the The childcare is only available to those students registered for the UPK program.
