PV Schools

Good afternoon,

After the successful completion of our first on-site voluntary COVID testing for students, we are preparing a second voluntary student testing clinic on Monday, February 1. We have already announced a shift to all remote learning for Putnam Valley Elementary School on Monday, February 1, to provide an opportunity for elementary-aged students to participate in the testing program. In an effort to accommodate working families, we have extended the testing hours until 7 pm on Monday, February 1.

Individuals would need to schedule an appointment prior to arriving at the building, all testing will be conducted in the Middle School cafeteria. Parents are asked to park in the designated COVID Testing parking spots located at the end of the lot. Testing is limited to only those students who attend school for in-person instruction. Appointments can be made by filling out the scheduling form below:

Scheduling Form:  https://forms.gle/Wiw3LNRJdRPA871x8

All students must be accompanied by an adult who will need to sign a consent form once they arrive at the Middle School. After completing the registration process, students will receive a nasal swab (non-invasive) test and will need to wait in their car for the 15 minutes it takes to receive a result of the rapid test.

Important Information:

Testing Date:         Monday, February 1

Testing Location:  Middle School Cafeteria

Testing Time:         8 am – 7 pm

Test Type:               Rapid Antigen (Abbott BinaxNow)

Result Time:          15 minutes from sample collection

Parking:               Park in a designated numbered parking spot, remember your spot number

Our testing program is designed to screen 20% of all in-person/hybrid learners. By doing this, it is our hope that this could reduce the required response to quarantine orders by identifying any potential asymptomatic positive individuals. At this time, we cannot test any remote-only learners. Individuals who are considered contacts of other known positives or are symptomatic should not come to the school’s testing site and are encouraged to follow up with a physician and receive a molecular PCR COVID test. Individuals who have tested positive within the last 90 days should not be retested. Individuals under quarantine are not allowed on campus and should not schedule a testing appointment.

Our tests will be administered by our school nurses and athletic trainer who have all been certified to administer this non-invasive test. All test results are reported directly to NYS by the Putnam Valley Central School District who will be operating as a state-approved testing laboratory.

Everyone receiving a test will leave with a legal document containing their test results. These tests are only available to students who attend the Putnam Valley Central School District and are currently enrolled as Hybrid/In-Person learners.

*Please note what number spot you are parked in, so test results can be brought out to you. Please bring a pen to complete the consent form or print and complete at home.  (form attached below)

Thank you,

Dr. Jeremy Luft
