PV Schools

Dear Putnam Valley Community:

On Site COVID Testing:  Our first in-school COVID testing clinic is underway and running smoothly. We are looking forward to ramping up the number of available appointments for another COVID testing clinic next Monday.  Please be on the lookout for additional information and a link to the sign up form.

All Remote Instruction, Feb 1:  In order to facilitate COVID testing for elementary students next week, we will be transitioning to all remote instruction on Monday, February 1.  All elementary students will participate in synchronous remote instruction while having the flexibility to sign up for a testing time that works for their family.  A test appointment will be considered an excused absence.

Inclement Weather Tomorrow:  We are closely monitoring the possibility of inclement weather during the school day tomorrow.  Current forecasts are raising some concerns about whether an early dismissal may be necessary.  In an attempt to avoid disrupting the instructional day for our Middle and Elementary School students, we will be shifting to all remote instruction tomorrow, January 26.  This will guarantee that all Elementary and Middle School students receive a full day of instruction.  Our High School students are already scheduled to participate in asynchronous assignments posted by their teachers. High School Juniors scheduled to take the PSAT are expected to participate as scheduled tomorrow morning, beginning at 8am.  District transportation will be available for those students taking the PSAT.  While we will closely monitor the weather tomorrow morning, we are hopeful that students will be able to complete the PSAT before the anticipated inclement weather may require an early dismissal.  By having the Elementary and Middle School students participating in all remote instruction, we are creating the additional flexibility we need in the event we need to dismiss those students taking the PSAT early.

Positive Cases:  The district was notified of several positive COVID cases over the weekend.  Some of those cases required contact tracing; anyone who was determined to have been exposed has already been contacted.  Due to the timing of these reported positive cases, all associated quarantine periods will be complete by tomorrow.  A summary of positive cases is below.

PVES: (2) Positive Cases

PVMS: (2) Positive Cases

PVHS: (1) Positive Case (Reported Friday 1/22)

Thank you.

Take care and stay well.
