PV Schools

Dear Putnam Valley Community:

The holiday season is upon us, and the FedEx guy now knows my entire family by name. Personally, this is my favorite time of year, as the father of two elementary-aged boys, I relish the opportunity to experience the holiday season through their eyes.  In school, our hallways are busy with the talk of holiday traditions and school vacation plans. Students seem to have just a little more energy and increasingly larger smiles as we approach the holiday recess.

While many look forward to the holiday season, it is also a very difficult time for some of our families.  During this time of year, it is important to support those who may be less fortunate, alone, or struggling with the recent loss of a loved one.  Please consider taking some time to check in with a loved one, a friend who is struggling to make ends meet, or a neighbor who may be alone; your contact may prove to be the highlight of their day.

Our schools have embraced the spirit of giving and have recently held a variety of food, coat, and pajama drives to give to those who need these items the most.  Toys have been collected and donated to a variety of charitable organizations including the Putnam County Women’s Resource Center, Maria Ferrari Children’s Hospital, and local churches. I am so proud of our students and the work they do to help others.

During this joyous time of year, it is my hope that everyone will find an opportunity to share some laughs with family and friends, help someone who could use some assistance, and do something for yourself that you will remember a month from now.  I wish everyone a happy holiday season and a happy new year.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jeremy Luft
