Dear Parents and Students,

Senior Week is almost here! I am delighted that June is around the corner and we can finally celebrate our Class of 2020 with plenty of pomp and circumstance! This year has been very disappointing for our seniors and we are hopeful that the Senior Week activities will bring some much needed joy as we celebrate all of our graduates’ wonderful contributions to Putnam Valley High School over the last four years. 

The overall plan for our Senior Week and blended graduation ceremonies are outlined below. 

Tuesday, June 9th: Last day for senior online classes.

  • Seniors with owed work must continue to log on and complete assignments.
  • Laptop, book and equipment drop off begins using Sign Up Genius-Link will be shared with additional information later in the week.
  • Students must wear a face mask to drop off any materials and socially distance
  • Students who do not drop off laptops will not receive his/her yearbook. 
  • “I SCREAM” Junior-Senior Social- Juniors (Class of 2021) send out congratulations video of shout outs to seniors!

Wednesday, June 10th:

  • Laptop, book and equipment drop off using Sign-Up Genius- Students who do not drop off laptops will not receive his/her yearbook.

Wednesday, June 10th: Senior Awards LIVE 7pm

  • Our awards ceremony is always an upbeat event. If you are receiving an award you will receive an invitation through the mail and an email with a zoom link to attend. Dr. Intrieri and Mr. Mello will announce all winners LIVE.

Thursday, June 11th: Senior Farewell Procession:  Begins at Town Park 10am

  • Putnam Valley Fire Department, Deputy Meury, and Mr. Mello will lead the procession to the high school. Decorate your car and meet at the Town Park by 10am! The PV Fire Department and Putnam Valley Sheriff will lead seniors in a procession to the high school where they will be able to drive through and wave goodbye to teachers K-12 who will line the driveway. 

Students must remain in vehicles

Friday, June 12th: Seniorpalooza!  (Begins at 9am- group sign ups through Sign Up Genius.)

  • Bring your decorated car to the high school to pick up your yearbook, graduation cords and other surprises.
  • Distribution of Senior Awards and Scholarships
  • Groups of 20 cars will be scheduled through SIGN UP GENIUS every 30 minutes beginning at 9am! (Link will be shared in information coming later this week)

Students must remain in vehicles

Saturday, June 13th and Sunday, June 14th: Cap Decoration

  • Share your pictures of your decorated caps for social media with Dr. Intrieri, Ms. Rossano and Ms. Getman.

Monday, June 15th: Recording of Graduation Speeches (Seniorpalooza rain date)

  • Valedictorian 9am
  • Salutatorian   9:15
  • BOE President 9:30
  • Senior Class President 9:45
  • 4th Speaker Winner 10:00
  • Superintendent 10:15
  • Principal 10:30
  • Senior Song 11am
  • All student speakers including the Valedictorian and Salutatorian should send their speeches to Mr. Lathrop by Wednesday, June 10th!
  • All speakers must wear masks and socially distance

Tuesday, June 16th : PVHS Family Commencement
MS. DAVINO’S STUDENTS (A-Fo)

  • Location: PVHS Performing Arts Center
  • Graduates will be scheduled alphabetically throughout the morning starting at 9:00 a.m. 
  • All students must be in full cap and gown to receive their PVHS High School Diploma at this time.
  • Professional “cap and gown” pictures will be taken for all graduates.
  • Due to distancing restrictions, students may bring up to four guests to take pictures. This is not a “public event” and we are under strict guidelines. All speeches will be pre-recorded for the graduation video.
  • One parking pass per graduate- maximum of six family members
  • Graduation programs distributed

Wednesday, June 17th: Family Commencement
MS. CASTRILLON’S STUDENT (Fr-O)

  • Location: PVHS Performing Arts Center
  • Graduates will be scheduled alphabetically throughout the morning starting at 9:00 a.m. 
  • All students must be in full cap and gown to receive their PVHS High School Diploma at this time.
  • Professional “cap and gown” pictures will be taken for all graduates.
  • Due to distancing restrictions, students may bring up to four guests to take pictures. 
  • This is not a “public event” and we are under strict guidelines. All speeches will be pre-recorded for the graduation video.
  • One parking pass per graduate- maximum of six family members

Thursday, June 18th: Family Commencement
MR. CAMPION’S STUDENTS (P-Z)

  • Location: PVHS Performing Arts Center
  • Graduates will be scheduled alphabetically throughout the morning starting at 9:00 a.m. 
  • All students must be in full cap and gown to receive their PVHS High School Diploma at this time.
  • Professional “cap and gown” pictures will be taken for all graduates.
  • Due to distancing restrictions, students may bring up to four guests to take pictures. 
  • This is not a “public event” and we are under strict guidelines. All speeches will be pre-recorded for the graduation video.
  • One parking pass per graduate- maximum of six family members
  • Graduation programs distributed

Graduation Video: In addition to the in-person experiences outlined above, a full graduation video with a link will be shared with all graduates and members of our school community. The graduation video will include all speeches, the names of graduates, and other highlights from our graduates time at PVHS. I will share the specific “release date” of the video as the date gets closer. 

*If a traditional graduation ceremony is allowed under the current guidelines and approved by the Board of Health, the dates of Commencement will be Thursday, June 18th and June 19th at 7pm. The class will be divided in two sections with a full ceremony on the PVHS turf field. 

Additional information will be sent home later this week, i.e. Sign Up Genius links, Graduation time slots, tickets, parking information etc. 

I want to thank everyone for their patience as we put these plans together during this quarantine. I would especially like to thank the Class of 2020 Advisors, Mrs. Getman and Ms. Rossano for all of their dedication to the Class of 2020! We are looking forward to seeing everyone again in the coming weeks!
