Dear PVHS Parents,
We hope you enjoyed the nice weather this weekend! The year is starting to wind down but before it does, we have a lot of business on the table. First and foremost, this Friday is the midpoint of the 4th quarter. Course comments will be posted by 10 am on Tuesday, May 25th. If your child is in danger of failing the year, please contact the teacher or your child’s guidance counselor to help your child develop a plan to pass the course.
I want to provide some clarification regarding Regents exams for this June. The New York State Education Department wanted to provide flexibility due to the millions of students across the state who had challenges due to the pandemic. Regents exams will only be given in English, Living Environment, Earth science (written only), and Algebra 1
-
Students have the OPTION to take the regents. It is not mandatory!
-
Please fill out this Google form to let us know if your child is taking a Regents.
-
If a student chooses to take the Regents, the Regents grade does not count in the student’s average for their class. Regents grades will only be used to improve a child’s grade, and may not decrease the overall average or 4th quarter grade of the student.
-
If a student chooses to sign up for the Regents exam, that exam grade will be posted on the student’s transcript, but it will not be included in the student’s GPA.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new PVHS Nurse, Jessica Wymore. The nurse position is invaluable to our students and we are overjoyed to have Ms. Wymore as part of the high school family. Ms. Wymore can be reached at jwymore@pvcsd.org if you have any questions or would like to welcome her to the district.
Our new e-gaming club, the PV Ambush played in its first Regional Championship Tournament this past week. PVHS had two teams in the Elite 8 and ended up in 2nd place for the Atlantic Coast region. This was very exciting for the students, school and advisor, Mr. Glenn. We look forward to more thrilling news from this club in the future.
Have a great week!
Dr. Sandra Intrieri
