Dear PVHS Parents and Guardians,
The holidays are here along with some winter weather that is a perfect backdrop for sleigh riding, and building snowmen. This year has been quite different for students and we hope that everyone takes advantage of the vacation for some winter fun and relaxation.
The five week marking period for Quarter 2 has officially ended and progress reports will be posted by this Wednesday, December 23rd. If your child is struggling with the hybrid schedule, or remote learning, please contact your child’s guidance counselor who can work with you and your child to remedy the situation. The best way to help your child is to communicate with your child’s teachers about any concerns and questions that you may have about the class. Giving your child’s teachers insight into your child’s learning patterns is very beneficial for both your child and the teacher.
Looking ahead, when students return to school in January it will be time for them to schedule meetings with their guidance counselor to discuss courses for the 21-22 school year. Mr. Mello and I will be holding a Listening Hour to review the Course Catalogue and explain the International Baccalaureate Program on Thursday, January 21st at 6:30 p.m. Additional information and a link to the meeting will be sent after the holidays.
Please note that there are no January Regents or January Midterms this year, due to our Hybrid Schedule. Teachers may be assigning projects or their own assessments during this time, but there will be no formal testing week this year. However, the PSATs will be given in school on January 26th for Juniors. A January 26th testing schedule for 11th and 12th graders will be sent home in January. Please note that 9th and 10th graders will not be in the building or have synchronous classes scheduled on that day.
We look forward to 2021 with anticipation for brighter days ahead when we can celebrate students with all of the events, activities and traditions that highlight our school year.
Mr. Mello and I would like to extend our gratitude for your support and we wish everyone a Happy 2021!
Sincerely,
Sandra K. Intrieri, Ed.D,
Principal
Matthew Mello,
Assistant Principal
