Hello Parents and Guardians,

We have some beautiful weather in store to end our first month of school. Students and staff are very happy to be together again after a long year of hybrid learning. With the Superfans back in action, student enthusiasm has been at an all time high with everyone celebrating the return of fans at sporting events.  Last week we received many compliments from parents of the opposing team who commented on our school spirit and positive student behaviors.

The Senior Class is looking forward to many activities to mark their last year in high school. Their parking spots are painted and plans are in place to host an outdoor Homecoming Dance during Homecoming Week in October. Our clubs are also in full swing. This year, we have our first ever PVHS Chess Club and Dance Club which have already been well attended. Auditions were held for our fall play, CLUE and our band and choral groups are back in full group sessions again! It has been a great relief to return to some normal school routines and activities for the first time since March 2020!

We have some new faces in the building. Our new Student Resource Officer, Deputy Rob Weinberg will be taking over for Deputy Meury. Deputy Weinberg has been presenting to classes and assisting us with our annual fire drills and safety meetings. We are grateful to have this support from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department. You will be able to meet Deputy Weinberg who will be joining us on Back to School Night! Mrs. Yvonne Mazza has replaced Mrs. McNeil in the Kiosk for attendance. Please send any notes for absence to her email pvhsattendance@pvcsd.org. Mrs. Wymore began as our school nurse last year and has been doing a fabulous job dealing with all COVID related issues.

We are ready to open our doors to parents this week with our annual Back to School Night on Thursday, September 30th. Doors will open at 6pm. Please ask your child for their MONDAY A- DAY schedule. We will also have student schedules available in the front foyer if needed.  The schedule for Back to School Night is attached in this email. Mr. Mello and I will be available throughout the evening to address your questions, but we will not be giving a presentation in the PAC to avoid bringing all the parents into one area to mitigate close contact. Department of Health regulations require parents to wear a mask for the night for the health and safety of all.

We look forward to seeing everyone this Thursday!

Sincerely,

Sandra Sepe
