Hello PV High School Families,
What an incredible start to the school year it’s been! The energy in the building is fantastic, and it’s a joy to see students reconnecting with friends and staff. They’re settling into their new classes and routines nicely.
A Focus on Mental Health
On Thursday, we were fortunate to have the JCK Foundation on campus. This organization, which is dedicated to mental health awareness, worked with our freshmen in the morning and reconnected with our seniors in the afternoon. Their message focused on creating a community of support, reducing the stigma around mental health, and encouraging students to talk openly about their feelings and challenges.
Updated School Schedule
We’ve made a small change to our daily schedule this summer to help us start the school day consistently.
All classes start promptly at 7:50 AM every morning. A warning bell will ring at 7:45 AM to allow students to arrive on time, and our morning announcements will begin at 7:48 AM.
To ensure a smooth start for everyone, please support us by:
-
Dropping off students before 7:45 AM.
-
Reminding senior students to arrive on campus by 7:45 AM.
Device Policy Update
We want to thank you for your support with our new internet-enabled device policy. The new system is working well and has helped us create a more focused learning environment. As a reminder, if a student has their device out, it is placed in a pouch. Students must take the pouch to the main office to have it unlocked at the end of the day.
Please be aware of the following:
-
If a pouch is damaged, the student will be required to pay a replacement fee and face disciplinary action.
-
If a student violates this policy two or more times, a parent or guardian must pick up the device from the main office during school hours.
Educational Benefit Form
While all students have been approved to receive free breakfast and lunch this school year through the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program, it is imperative that families also submit the attached Education Benefit form.
If you think you may be eligible for additional benefits, such as waivers or reductions for exam fees (SAT, ACT, AP, IB) and college application fees, please complete the CEP form and return it as soon as possible to ensure your child can access these extended benefits.
Please email to Jean Cesario, jcesario@pvcsd.org, Business Office, Putnam Valley CSD.

Tiger Tracker – Community Service
We have a training video created by Mrs. DiSiena, which can be found on the website under Community Service and in Google Classroom. Students can also find the video in the PVHS Bookmarks.
New SmartPass System
We’ve also implemented a new digital hall pass system called SmartPass. This system allows us to better track student movement and helps ensure students spend more time in the classroom, which is our primary goal. We will be sharing login information with you soon so you can view your child’s hall pass activity.
Emergency Drills
Next week, we will begin conducting our New York State-required emergency drills. We’ll start with our first evacuation (fire) drill. These drills are essential for student safety, and we will continue to practice them throughout the year.
