Dear Putnam Valley HS Parents/Guardians,
We are in the home stretch of the school year. The May IB/AP exams are complete! 133 students took 36 exams, writing 687 papers in 14 days of testing. This was quite an undertaking for our students, especially seniors, who staved off senioritis and worked hard through the end. We also had 111 freshmen and sophomores in 4 AP courses take 162 AP exams. More students are challenging themselves in more rigorous classes than ever before. We are so proud of our students and staff for embracing an educational culture that places academic rigor at the forefront of our community.
Midpoint of Quarter 4
May 19th marked the midpoint of the 4th quarter. Teachers have updated grades and comments. Please take a look at your child’s progress and attendance. We encourage you to contact your child’s teacher with questions or concerns.
June 1st US History Regents – No Classes for Students
NY State Education Department requires all schools to administer the US History Regents on June 1st. This Regents exam is for juniors enrolled in the US History and Government or IB History of the Americas courses at PVHS. The exam will begin promptly at 8:00 am and last until 11:15ish. Juniors need to be here at 7:45 am so we can get them seated and supplied by 8:00 am. There will be a morning bus run as usual and an 11:45 am bus run to take students home. Juniors can drive in for the exam and must park in the senior parking spots.
All Juniors must sit for the US History and Government Regents exam.
Regents/Finals Exam Schedule
The last day of classes for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors is Monday, June 12th. Regents and final exams begin on Tuesday, June 13th. Seniors
Our senior class is looking forward to the end of their high school career. Senior Week begins June 6th with events planned daily to celebrate the completion of one chapter of their lives and prepare them for their next chapter. Here is the Senior Week Schedule. Graduation will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, June 16th, on the athletic field. We will send out graduation information to all our seniors on June 1st.
