Hello Putnam Valley High School Students, Parents, and Guardians!
Can you believe the third quarter has already wrapped up? A friendly reminder that the end of the 3rd quarter was on April 11th. We encourage you to log in to PowerSchool by the end of this week to check your child’s academic progress. While you’re there, please also take a peek at the attendance records. It’s important to note that more than 9 absences in a half-year course or more than 18 in a full-year course could, unfortunately, lead to the loss of course credit. Let’s work together to ensure everyone stays on track!
We also have some exciting news regarding graduation! Through the wonderful efforts of our seniors and their parents, we are planning to hold the graduation ceremony on the baseball outfield on June 20th at 7:00 PM. We truly appreciate the time and thoughtful consideration that everyone put into creating this viable outdoor option.
Our talented Theatre Works program is thrilled to present the spring musical, the ever-fabulous Legally Blonde! Join us for a delightful evening or afternoon of song and dance this upcoming weekend. Shows are on Friday and Saturday night at 7:00 PM, and there’s a Sunday matinee at 2:00 PM. You won’t want to miss it!
Looking ahead, our IB and AP assessment season is just around the corner, kicking off on Tuesday, April 29th, and running through Wednesday, May 21st. A special note for our seniors in their second year of IB courses: these are your IB exams. We’re so proud of all your hard work!
Please also be aware that Thursday, May 8th, will be a half day of classes for the high school. Due to the large number of students testing in the afternoon, we will have block periods 2 and 4, and lunch will be served. Transportation will be providing a full midday bus run for any students who need to go home. Afternoon BOCES will still be in session, and our regular afternoon bus schedule will be in place.
Keep an eye on the school website, PVHS Website, starting tomorrow, for the updated IB and AP exam schedule. We wish all our students the very best as they prepare for these assessments!
Let’s all finish the school year strong! There are so many positive things happening here at PVHS, so keep up the fantastic effort in all that you do.
Have a wonderful rest of your week, and we hope to see you at Legally Blonde and at graduation in June!
Sincerely,
Matt Mello
