Welcome to August, everyone!

We hope you are soaking up every bit of summer—whether that means relaxing with a good book, spending time with family, or finding ways to dodge the afternoon rain showers!

There is so much exciting energy around the high school right now as we prepare for a wonderful new school year. If you’ve driven by recently, you’ve likely noticed a buzz of activity: our new roof is nearly finished, and our parking lot is currently undergoing a total makeover!

Wishing the Very Best to Dr. Payne

As many of you may have heard, Dr. Letitia Payne has been appointed as the Executive Principal of the CTE program at PNW BOCES. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Payne for seven incredible 7 of dedication, warmth, and leadership here in Putnam Valley. She cares deeply about our students and has been a wonderful champion for all our children. While we will miss her presence in our halls, the great news is that we’ll still see plenty of her as she leads the CTE program and supports our students attending BOCES classes in Yorktown. Please join us in wishing her the absolute best as she takes this exciting next step!

Assistant Principal Search Update

We immediately launched our search for a new assistant principal, and we were thrilled to receive 75 applications! Our search committee narrowed the pool down to 15 candidates for preliminary interviews, and we have now selected 4 exceptional finalists. Next week, these finalists will participate in committee interviews and performance presentations. From there, candidates will move forward to interview with Dr. Luft, with our final candidate being presented to the Board of Education soon after. We are excited to keep you posted!

August Regents Exams

A quick reminder for students scheduled to take August Regents exams:

  • Tuesday, August 18th: Algebra I & Global History

  • Wednesday, August 19th: US History

If you have any questions regarding testing times or room assignments, please reach out to the main office.

Visiting Campus & Senior Parking Spot Tradition

If you need to drop by the high school, you’ll see firsthand the major improvements happening to our driveways and parking lots at both the middle and high schools. To visit us safely:

  • Please use the access road leading to the Wellness Center.

  • Park in the temporary grass parking lot located just outside the gym.

While our crews are working hard, recent summer weather hasn’t quite cooperated with our original mid-August timeline. Because of this, our beloved tradition of seniors painting their parking spots will be delayed until after Labor Day weekend. We know how much our seniors look forward to this tradition, and we promise to share updated dates and details as soon as the asphalt settles!

Thank you for your continued patience, support, and partnership as we get our campus looking its absolute best for the fall. Enjoy these final weeks of summer vacation!
