Dear Putnam Valley Families,

We are roaring back to school!  We hope you had a wonderful summer, enjoyed family and friends, and have some incredible adventures and memories to share.

We are having a staggered start for the first day of school.

Freshmen and Freshmen only, will be in school on Tuesday, September 3rd.

All grades will start our regular class schedule on Wednesday, September 4th.

Tuesday, Sept. 3rd: Only Grade 9 will have a full school day.

(Grades 10, 11, & 12 stay home!)

The 9th grade will go through a series of workshops on the first day to help acquaint them with expectations, their classes, and the high school building.

The first full day of classes for everyone is Wednesday, Sept. 6th!

We have a slight tweak to our bell schedule.  Monday classes will begin at 7:55.

Other important information:

  • Student schedules were released on Friday, August 23rd. Please have your child click on and review their full-year schedule. If there are any questions, please contact your child’s Guidance Counselor.

  • **As a reminder, students can only drop classes by replacing the class with another choice.  We want you to take advantage of the many opportunities we offer.

  • Teacher Requests: We recognize that students and parents may have preferences when it comes to their child’s teachers. However, we are unable to accommodate specific teacher requests.

  • THE STUDENT LAPTOP AGREEMENT FORM AND SIGN-OFF ARE LOCATED ON THE HIGH SCHOOL WEBPAGE (under the Student/Parent resource tab) AND MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE YOUR CHILD RETURNS TO SCHOOL!  We are trying to expedite the laptop distribution process and need your help.  Please read the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct carefully and complete the Computer Use forms.

  • All students will receive a locker this year. Students may log in to PowerSchool to see their locker number and combination.

  • Please contact the District Office if you do not want your child’s picture released to the media.

  • Picture Day is Monday, September 30, 2024 – Everyone should take a picture, and if you want to purchase a copy, please refer to your email from Legacy Studios.

  • Back-to-School Night: Wednesday, September 25th, 6:00 pm.

We want to welcome our new staff to the high school:

Important: BOCES Opening on Tuesday, September 3rd

Please be informed that PNW BOCES will be open on Tuesday, September 3rd. We only have Freshmen in the building on this day.  Transportation to the BOCES Tech Center and Tilly Farms will start on Wednesday, Sept. 4 for 11th and 12th grade students.

Additionally, our Senior Class Breakfast and community meeting will be held on Friday, September 6th at 8:00 am.  We have contacted BOCES to let them know that seniors may not be in attendance.

The BOCES bus pick-up times for the year are as follows:

  • Morning Session: 7:45 AM (located past the High School at the far end of the Middle School)

  • Midday Session: 9:30 AM (in front of the High School)

  • Afternoon Session: 11:30 AM (in front of the High School)

Please ensure you are ready for your scheduled pick-up time.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope this email finds you well. As the start of the new school year approaches, we wanted to provide you with some essential updates.

Attached Schedule: Please review the attached schedule for the First Days of School September 2024. This includes important information about community meetings for each grade.

Cell Phone Use: Please review the cell phone guidelines with your child. Your support in this matter is crucial. If you need to contact your child, please call the main office at (845) 526-7847. Students will have access to their phones during community lunch from 10:50 to 11:40 every day.

Parent Involvement: We are actively seeking parents to join various school groups, including:

  • Building Steering Team

  • PTSA

  • Education Foundation

  • Tigers Habitat – The Tigers Habitat is a group designed for parents interested in meeting with the administration and contributing to our vision for the future of education.
