Dear Putnam Valley HS Parents/Guardians,
As we approach Memorial Day, let us take a moment to remember and honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. This holiday is not just a time for relaxation, but a chance to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy and the courage of those who have defended them. As you drive around town you can see the banners of our hometown military heroes and the faces of so many men and women who went through our school system and served in the armed forces. I am overwhelmed with joy knowing they served our country and represent Putnam Valley.
Enjoy your time with family and friends, and take a moment to appreciate the significance of this day and thank someone for their service to our country.
We are in the home stretch of the school year. The May IB/AP exams are complete! 171 students took 15 exams, writing 515 papers in 14 days of testing. This was quite an undertaking for our students, especially seniors, who staved off senioritis and worked hard through the end. We also had 96 freshmen and sophomores taking exams in 4 AP courses. We are so proud of our students and staff for embracing an educational culture that places academic rigor at the forefront of our community.
Midpoint of Quarter 4
May 23rd marks the midpoint of the 4th quarter. Teachers will update grades and comments. Please take a look at your child’s progress and attendance. We encourage you to contact your child’s teacher with questions or concerns.
June 4th Algebra 1 Regents – No Classes for Students
NY State Education Department requires all schools to administer the Algebra 1 Regents on Tuesday, June 4th. This Regents exam is for students enrolled in an Algebra 1 Regents course at PVHS. The exam will begin promptly at 8:00 am and last until 11:15ish. Algebra 1R students need to be here at 7:45 am so we can get them seated and supplied by 8:00 am. There will be a morning bus run as usual and an 11:45 am bus run to take students home.
All students enrolled in an Algebra 1R course must sit for the Regents exam.
Regents/Finals Exam Schedule
The last day of classes for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors is Thursday, June 13th. Regents and final exams begin on Friday, June 14th. All Regents and final exams are mandatory and must be taken on the day they are given unless there are conflicts. Students must come to school only if they have a Regents or final exam. Seniors
Our senior class is looking forward to the end of their high school career. Senior Week begins June 6th with events planned daily to celebrate the completion of one chapter of their lives and prepare them for their next chapter. Here is the Senior Week Schedule. Graduation will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, June 21st, on the athletic field. We will send out graduation information to all our senior families on June 3rd.
