Dear Class of 2023 Families,
Putnam Valley High School’s Class of 2023 Graduation Ceremony will be held on Friday, June 16, at 7:00 PM on the PVHS Athletic Field. In the event of rain, the graduation exercises will be held on Saturday, June 17, at 11:00 AM on the Athletic Field. In the event of rain on Saturday morning, the graduation will be held in the High School gymnasium at 11:00 AM. Announcements will be made through Connect Ed to advise you of any changes.
Please see the attached SENIOR WEEK document for a day-to-day list of all planned activities. Seniors are expected to attend ALL events unless they have been excused by myself or Dr. Payne. Only students who are passing ALL classes may participate in activities. Students who are failing ONE or MORE classes will not be able to participate and must attend ALL classes from June 6th-June 12th.
As part of Senior Week, all seniors will visit Putnam Valley Elementary School and Middle School on Thursday, June 8, at 10:00 AM for a special recognition. Students will arrive at the high school at 9:30. All seniors are expected to join us!
Graduation rehearsal will be held on Thursday, June 15, at 10 AM. Seniors are to report to the wellness center where we will hand out graduation tickets. This is a MANDATORY graduation rehearsal. Students who want to participate in Commencement 2023 exercises MUST ATTEND or they are in jeopardy of not walking at the ceremony.
Each family will receive 6 tickets (four white, two blue) for seating located in the bleachers on the athletic field. General admission will be available to additional family members and the public on a first come, first serve basis. Ticket seating in the bleachers will begin at 6:00 PM on Friday or 10:00 AM on Saturday. In the event of inclement weather and the graduation is held in the gymnasium, families will be limited to the four white tickets for the gymnasium. Other family members can sit in the PVHS Performing Arts Center to view a live feed of the graduation.
On Friday, June 16th all seniors are expected to assemble in the PV High School Wellness Center in their caps and gowns by 4:40 PM or in the case of rain, Saturday, June 17th, at 9:00 AM. Parents should go directly to the Athletic Field for seating.
Seniors are expected to dress and behave appropriately for this formal occasion. They will only be permitted to wear the school approved cap and gown and any cords or medals provided by the school. The commencement ceremony is a dignified event, and therefore, appropriate dress is strongly suggested. Noisemakers and other items such as beach balls that could disrupt the ceremony are strictly prohibited and will be confiscated. Seniors are allowed to decorate their caps for this ceremony.
