Dear Parents and Guardians,

Can you believe the 3rd quarter of school just ended?  Spring is such an enjoyable time at PVHS.  We have plenty of athletic teams competing at a high level this spring.  I love coming out on a sunny day, standing on the hill, and seeing a softball game, baseball game, and lacrosse game happening simultaneously.  It’s a community experience that I cherish.

Our spring musical, Something Rotten, is set to start Friday, April 28th!  The cast and crew have been working overtime to create a theatrical experience that leaves the crowd in awe.  We have many very talented students, and the musical is one of the rare opportunities to see them perform.

    Showtimes:

        Friday, April 28th @ 7:00

        Saturday, April 29th @ 7:00

        Sunday, April 30th @ 2:00

Tickets are on sale for $5.00 for students and $12.00 ($10 if purchased ahead of time) for adults.

Celebration of Film –  We are proud to announce that we will have our inaugural PV film festival on Friday, May 5th, at 6:00 pm.  We invite all to attend to see the incredible work that our film students are creating.  Maybe you will witness the next Spielberg, Hitchcock, or Bigelow.

AP/IB testing will begin on May 2nd.  You can find the testing schedule at PV High School.  There is a blue shaded box on the right side of the main page and a list of upcoming events on the left.  Both options will list days and time slots for the exams.  Here is an article, The last mile: how to prepare for your IB exams, by Aseel Al- Nasser, that can be applied to preparing/studying for any exam.  Students are still required to attend their other classes during the day.  Some exams might run past the afternoon bus run and need to take the 3:30 bus or get a ride home.  Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions about the exams.

Juniors cannot drive to school and park on campus during the day.  We are seeing more activity on campus, and juniors have been warned.  We will allow juniors to drive to school during Regents/finals weeks (June 13th to June 22nd).  A form was sent home explaining what needs to be done.  This includes June 1st when the state requires the US History Regents to be given.  No other classes will be held on June 1st.  Only juniors will arrive in the morning.  The exam begins at 8:00 am.

Quarter 3 Grades/Comments are Finalized

Please check PowerSchool to view your child’s 3rd quarter progress report and maybe take a peak at their attendance.  This is an excellent time to review student progress and connect with teachers to ensure your child succeeds in all classes.  The 4th quarter is a short one due to Regents/finals testing during the month of June.  If you have any questions, reach out to teachers directly.  A conversation with your child and their teacher makes all the difference in creating a successful learning experience.

Sincerely,

Matt Mello
