The PVMS Student Council, in collaboration with the PVMS Library, is thrilled to announce the first annual reading challenge, running from Feb 17 to April 14. Students are encouraged to choose independent reading books based on their own interests and reading level to earn individual rewards and work toward grade level and full school prizes. The benefits of reading for pleasure are wide and well documented, as explained in the following article. We hope this reading challenge enhances our students’ motivation to read and opens opportunities to engage in choice literature beyond the classroom.

Please review the reading challenge guidelines posted on our website and on the PVMS Library Google Classroom page (join code: j2yyxwd) and encourage your student to check out a book over February break or when they return to school. In addition, tips and resources for talking to your student about books can be found in the guidelines as well. If you are looking for specific book suggestions for your student, please reach out to Mrs. Reilly in the library at sreilly@pvcsd.org.
