Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Thank you to all our elementary parents who were able to attend our Back-to-School Nights this month! We have such a wonderfully supportive parent community, and we are so grateful for your involvement, your commitment to your child’s education, and your positive communication. As always, if you have any questions or would like to meet with your child’s teacher(s), please call the school at 845-528-8092, or email them directly (first initial, last name @pvcsd.org).  We look forward to working with you throughout the year.

Our Elementary School Picture Day will be held on Tuesday, September 26th. (Schools will be closed on Monday, September 25th, in honor of Yom Kippur). If a student is absent on Picture Day, we have a retake day scheduled for November 2nd. Thank you to our PTA volunteers who provide so much help with this schedule.

We have just a few safety reminders that we ask you review with your children. All students are being asked to sit and wear seatbelts on school buses (unless we hear from you). There should be no eating on the buses, and children are asked to never share food, either in the cafeteria or classroom. We also ask that all lunch boxes, water bottles, and clothing and school supplies, be labeled clearly. Toys and items from home should be kept in backpacks if they are brought to school. And finally, all electronics should be left at home. Any communication devices (phones, smart watches, etc.), should be turned off and stored safely in backpacks at all times. We thank you so much for your support with these important matters.

As we begin our third week of school, please take the time to establish solid homework and bedtime routines for the school year. As we all adjust to our busy fall schedules, we know how important structure and routine (and good rest) help to support student success. Thank you for prioritizing solid student attendance and punctuality at school for your child. We are all off to a wonderful start!

Wishing a Happy Rosh Hashanah to all who celebrate! Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead!

Thank you for all you do, each and every day.

Sincerely,

Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
