Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Thank you all for scheduling your fall Parent/Teacher conferences with your child’s teachers this month.  As we begin the second quarter of this school year, it is so important to communicate openly about learning goals for our students, along with goals for social and behavioral growth as well. Thank you, as always, for your partnership and your investment in your child’s learning. We work so hard to provide a strong foundation for our students’ educational years at PVES, while aiming to foster lifelong learning as well!

We have a full week of school ahead. Then, next week, our elementary students will be in school for full days on Monday and Tuesday, and for a half-day on Wednesday. As you know, we did not cancel or shorten any instructional days this past month for our parent/teacher conferences. Our elementary students will dismiss at 12:00 on Wednesday, November 24th, before the Thanksgiving break. There will be no school on Thursday and Friday, November 25th & 26th, in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thank you so much for your contributions to the Thanksgiving Food Drive. This is certainly a time of gratitude, caring, and giving. If you are a family who could benefit from holiday food or gift donations this year, please do not hesitate to reach out confidentially to our school counselor, Mrs. Laura Kilduff at lkilduff@pvcsd.org. We know that this has been an incredibly difficult couple of years, and we are here to help. We are happy to do so, and we thank the wonderful PVES community for all your generosity!

Looking ahead to December, we will plan on holding a whole-school Pajama Day (with sneakers, not slippers) on Friday, December 17th. We will also invite all students and staff to wear Holiday Festive Wear (complete with hats, bells, green and red, etc.) on Thursday, December 23rd. Our December holiday break will begin on Friday, December 24th. Schools will reopen on Monday, January 3rd, 2022!

Enjoy the week ahead. Please keep reading on a daily basis with your children, and practice those math facts regularly together. Our students continue to show us how great a school we are, and you are certainly an important part of the wonderful equation!

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
