Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

I hope that you are enjoying the long weekend and staying safe in the winter weather. Schools are closed on Monday, January 17th, in honor of Martin Luther King Day. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, January 18th.

Our elementary school continues to be a safe and energetic place of learning. We thank you all for your cooperation during these challenging times. We are so impressed with how our students come to school prepared and ready to learn each day. Please review the most recent email from Dr. Luft that contains all updated quarantine guidelines. We know that regulations can change rapidly, and we always want you to be updated on the most recent safety guidelines.

We are quickly approaching the midpoint of our school year. Report Cards will be available online in the late afternoon of Friday, January 28th.  Hard copy Report Cards will also be mailed via U.S. mail by the first week of February. As always, if you have any questions about your child’s progress in any area, please reach out to your child’s teacher(s) for communication.  All faculty can be reached via email at first initial, last name @pvcsd.org.

Although the temperatures are quite frigid right now, students will go outside for recess on most winter days. Please be sure that your child wears a warm jacket to school, and labeled hats and mittens are recommended. If you are missing any of your child’s outdoor items, please contact his/her teacher, or remind your child to check our Lost & Found collection, which is located on a table right outside of the Health Office. We have quite a collection right now!

We look forward to the next few months of great growth and learning. Our teachers are constantly working collaboratively to review curriculum materials, analyze benchmark expectations, and to design engaging and effective lessons to meet our students’ learning needs. Our amazing students continue to rise to our high learning standards, and the strong academic foundation at PVES will benefit these children for years to come. Thank you for your ongoing partnership in this important work.

Fourth grade parents should be sure to reserve their assigned seating at the Fourth Grade Winter Concert, which will be held at the HIGH SCHOOL on Wednesday, January 26th. We look forward to a wonderful performance!

Enjoy the week ahead. Stay warm. Stay healthy.  Spring will be here before we know it!

Fondly,

Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
