Dear PVES Families,
Happy season of fall, and Happy New Year to those celebrating Rosh Hashanah! We wish you all good things, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in school on this Wednesday!
Please remember that schools will be closed next Wednesday, October 5th, in observance of Yom Kippur. Schools will also be closed on Monday, October 10th for Columbus Day.
As we look ahead, please note that our Elementary School Picture Day will be held on Thursday, October 27th. A retake day will be announced for some time in November.
As we begin our fifth week of school, our classrooms are busy and productive, with our wonderful students settled into their new schedules and routines. Our teachers are working very hard to assess the students and begin the implementation of our new English Language Arts Program, Scholastic Literacy. Please be sure that your child is reading on a daily basis at home, and please take the time to discuss the text with your child. We look forward to a wonderful year of growth and learning this year, and I commend our teachers for their dedication and expertise!
If you ever have questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please always reach out to the classroom teacher or your child’s support/intervention teachers first, as they know your child best. All faculty can be reached by email at first initial, last name@pvcsd.org. If Mrs. Picco or I can be of assistance after that, please let us know. We are all working together!
Thank you to our PVES Character Education & Diversity Committee who provided us with our first whole-school assembly this past Friday. (This was the first time that we have gathered as a whole school in well over two years!) Together, we reviewed our PVES Character Traits and Tree of Great Expectations, the DASA law, our Summer Reading Challenge, our year-long theme of Teamwork, and of course, our PVES School Song! The students were wonderful, and we are all so lucky to be part of such an amazingly happy, positive, and supportive school environment. We look forward to many exciting school events ahead!
Enjoy these gorgeous fall days. Thank you for your support and positive feedback!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
