Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Welcome to the fall season (tomorrow), and welcome to our fourth week of school! The year is off to a great start, and we are so proud of our amazing elementary students who come to school happy, organized, and ready to learn each day. Thank you, families, for your wonderful support and communication. What a wonderful first month of school we are having!

This week, schools will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday for Rosh Hashanah. We look forward to welcoming our students tomorrow (Monday), and then again on Thursday and Friday. Schools will also be closed on Thursday, October 2nd for Yom Kippur. There will be no school on Monday, October 13th for Columbus Day.

At PVES, we continue to practice our mandated safety drills in a calm, reassuring, and organized manner. Over the next two weeks, we will continue to practice several fire (evacuation) drills at varying times of the day. You will be notified of a scheduled lockdown drill before it is held in October. If you have any questions about our safety practices and protocols, please feel free to reach out to us.

I look forward to presenting our “PVES Opening of Schools Report” at the PVCSD Board of Education Meeting this Thursday, September 25th, at 7:00 PM. This meeting will be held at the high school, and you are welcome to attend or watch the meeting online from the www.pvcsd.org website. We have so much to share regarding our curriculum work, building updates, and student programs. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, we look forward to your communication.

Please be reminded that our School Picture Day is just one week away. Thank you for volunteering to help our PTA on Monday, September 29th as our classes follow the schedule for individual and group photos. A re-take day is scheduled for November 21st.

Enjoy the week ahead and some extra time with your families. Thank you for your support and partnership.

Sincerely,

Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
