Dear PVES Families,
The beautiful month of October is winding down nicely at PVES, but with lots of activity each and every day. Our students are enjoying enriching field trips, outdoor activities on our beautiful school campus, and engaging learning activities in our classrooms and other learning spaces each and every day. We look forward to connecting with you in person at our upcoming fall parent/teacher conferences. Please be sure that you have a conference scheduled, and that you reach out to all specialists (music, art, physical education, technology) and professional support staff if you would like to meet with them as well. All staff members can be emailed at first initial, last name @pvcsd.org.
All staff and students are invited to bring their Halloween costumes to school on Thursday, October 31st. During the day, the students will take part in a school-wide parade for staff and students only, and then costumes will be packed up and taken home for the evening activities. This event will be livestreamed (and recorded) for all parents to see. Please do not send in extra food treats to your child’s classroom. We appreciate the thought, but the classroom parents will work hard to organize the plans for classroom celebrations, and surprise food treats can make things tricky. Thank you!
Many of our 3rd and 4th grade students are taking part in early morning practices for the upcoming Gym Show, which will be held on Wednesday, November 20th, at 7:00 PM in our big gym. Parents, please do not drop your students off before 8:00 AM for these assigned practice days, as there is no supervision before this time. We look forward to a wonderful event, and all are invited.
This evening, we welcome our Kindergarten families to the PTA Pizza & Pumpkin Night. This wonderful gathering will take place in the PVES Cafeteria, and it will begin at 6:30 PM. Please see the PV PTA website for details. Thank you for your participation.
The PVEF Trunk or Treat will take place in the Middle School parking lot tomorrow at 2:00 PM. The weather looks perfect for this Halloween event, and we thank all of the volunteers who are working so hard to make this trick-or-treating event possible. Thank you, as always, for supporting the Putnam Valley Education Foundation!
The PTA Fall Scholastic Book Fair will be taking place in our Auditorium beginning on Monday, October 28th. All classes will follow a schedule for visits to the fair and book purchasing opportunities. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions. This Book Fair offers a wide variety of literature for both children and adults, and the prices are very reasonable. This is a great opportunity to purchase holiday gifts, and to encourage the love of reading!
Please check the November calendar carefully, especially if you need to arrange for childcare when schools are closed. The Elementary School will be closed for students on November 5th, November 8th, November 11th, and November 27th-29th. The Elementary students will have a 12:00 dismissal on Thursday, November 14th, because of parent/teacher conferences being held that evening. The month is sure to go by very quickly!
Enjoy the busy weekend ahead. Please continue to talk positively with your children about each day’s learning activities, and to empower them to solve “small problems” on their own. This is a great gift to give children, as they continue to grow in confidence and in the ability to understand and work with others.
Thank you for all you do!
Warmly,
Ms. Podesta
Principal
