Dear PVES Families,
I hope that you and your family members are enjoying the beautiful fall weather and all of the outdoor activities that are available at this time of year! Our elementary students are busy learning, growing, and socializing, and they are loving the problem-solving Character Ed theme this month. We are so proud of their efforts, and our teachers are looking forward to meeting with all of you at the November parent/teacher conferences.
As you know, all First Responders are welcome to visit PVES for our annual First Responder Visit on Friday, October 25th, from 9:10 to 9:50. If you are interested and available, please email me at mpodesta@pvcsd.org. We thank you so much for the important work that you do! It looks like it is going to be a great day!
All elementary students are welcome to participate in our school-wide Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 31st. This parade is for students only, but the parade will be recorded so that families can watch from home. Participation is not mandatory. Children will bring their costumes to school and change into them before the parade time. We ask that students do not wear scary masks or carry prop weapons of any sort. Thank you so much!
This past week, our students and staff participated in another fire drill and in our first lockdown drill of the school year. Our visiting safety consultant, along with local police officers, observed and participated in our lockdown drill, and we received excellent reviews on our practices. We will notify you again before our next safety drills are scheduled to take place. We are so proud of our students!
We are amazed at our students’ academic growth already this year. Please be sure to review your child’s homework each night and discuss the reading and math concepts that are being taught in school. Thank you for supporting our classroom initiatives and for further developing the love of learning with your child. This is such a special, foundational time!
Have a great week ahead! We are in the final stretch of the busy and beautiful month of October!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
