Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

I hope you are enjoying this busy week, with a long weekend ahead. Please note that there will be no school on Monday, October 14th, in honor of Columbus Day. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday morning! Our official elementary school day begins at 9:12 AM and ends at 3:20 PM. Students arriving after 9:12 AM will be marked Tardy. Students should not be picked up for after school appointments or activities before 3:15 PM, without being marked as an Early Dismissal. Thank you for valuing the importance of our instructional time, and for helping to support your children with good attendance and solid work habits.

All parents of students in Grades 2, 3, and 4 are invited to a Math Help Night on Tuesday, October 15th, at 6:00 PM, with our Math Specialist, Mr. Coleman. Please join us in the Elementary Faculty Lounge for this informative evening! All parents are welcome.

Some of our district clubs are welcoming any Lego donations you may have! If you have any Legos to donate, please bring them to the PVES main office. Thank you so much!

As we quickly approach the end of the first quarter of the school year, please be sure that you have signed up for a November parent/teacher conference with your child’s classroom teacher and with all support staff and specialists with whom you would like to meet. All staff can be reached via email at first initial, last name @pvcsd.org. We value the importance of communication with a strong connection between home and school. You may be seeing things in your child at home that the teachers are unaware of. Let’s work together! Brief Progress Reports will be given to you at the November conferences, and official Report Cards will be available in late January.

All children are invited to bring a costume to school on Thursday, October 31st. No masks or weapons, please. The children will march in a parade for staff and students only, but the parade will be livestreamed for all to see. At the end of the day, the children will pack up their costumes in their backpacks so that they are brought home safely for trick-or-treating. We look forward to a wonderful day.

Please check the calendar scroll carefully for upcoming events. November is a busy calendar month with parent/teacher conference days, a Superintendent’s Conference Day, Veteran’s Day, and the Thanksgiving break. The beautiful fall season tends go by so quickly!

On Friday, October 18th, our staff will be supporting Breast Cancer Awareness month by wearing PINK! Students are welcome to wear pink that day as well, as we hope for health and good care for all.

We look forward to our visits with Dr. Carol Franks-Randall next week, the author of the book, Playground Heroes! Ask your child about this special book! Thank you again to the PTA for providing a copy of this book for each classroom this year!

Enjoy the long weekend! Thank you for all that you do, each and every day!

Warmly,
Ms. Podesta
