Dear PVES Families,
Tomorrow (Monday, November 10th) will be a half-day of school for our elementary students only. Our K-4 students will dismiss at 12:00 noon. Throughout the afternoon and evening, our elementary teachers will be conducting parent/teacher conferences. If you are coming to school this week for a conference and would like to meet with any professional support staff or specials teachers, please try to email them today. All faculty can be reached by email at first initial, last name@pvcsd.org. Thank you for making sure your parent/teacher conference is scheduled. (Additional parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for the late afternoon on Thursday).
All PVCSD schools will be closed on Tuesday, November 11th, in honor of Veterans Day. Thank you to all our Veterans for your service to our country and for keeping us safe. Schools will reopen on Wednesday, November 12th.
Our Character Education theme this month is “gratitude.” One Family Challenge Activity would be to create a “Gratitude Jar” at home, with all family members adding notes in writing when they think of something for which they are grateful. These can then be shared at the family dinner table. “World Kindness Day” is Thursday, November 13th, and all PVES staff and students are invited to wear “blue” on this day!
Thank you to our PTA Arts in Ed for providing an assembly to our students in Grades 2, 3, and 4 this past week focusing on Native American history and dance. Our younger students (Grades K & 1) will be enjoying a musical assembly in December focusing on “Holidays around the World.” Thank you, PTA!
Our Fall PTA/Scholastic Book Fair begins in one week! I am happy to share that the Book Fair will be open on Wednesday, November 19th, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM, before the Gym Show at 7:00. We are looking forward to both of these events!
Congratulations to the PVHS Cheerleading Team as they compete in the state championships this weekend. We thank these fine student athletes for performing for some of our grade levels this past Friday. We wish them much success in their state competition!
The second quarter of the school year begins tomorrow! As you meet with your child’s teachers, please review any learning/behavior goals that can be put in place for these next ten weeks of school. We are so proud of our students, and we truly appreciate your partnership.
Please check the calendar carefully for half days and vacation days this month. And, as the weather gets cooler this week, please be sure your children are prepared for outdoor recess each day.
Be sure to check our Weekly Notices for upcoming events. Thank you! Have a great week ahead!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
