Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

As we head into this week of Thanksgiving, I would like to extend my gratitude to all of you. Together, we work to make PVES a positive, engaging, safe, and happy place to learn for your children. Thank you for all you do to support these efforts. We could not do it without you!

As you know, this week has an abbreviated schedule. Monday, November 21st, is a full day of school. On Tuesday, our elementary students (only) will be dismissed at 12:00. (We have parent/teacher conferences scheduled between 6:00 and 8:00 PM that evening.) On Wednesday, elementary students (only) will be dismissed again at 12:00. There will be no school on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. Schools will reopen on Monday, November 28th.

Congratulations to our 3rd and 4th grade students who participated in the PVES Gym Show this past week! Thanks to the efforts of our physical education teachers, the student-athletes were so prepared, and they were able to perform 3 complete shows on Wednesday. The gym was packed on Wednesday night, and the students made us so proud. Great job!

Our Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success! Thank you so much to our PTA volunteers who made this event possible for our students. We look forward to another Book Fair that will be held in the spring!

The PTA is again providing us with a fantastic holiday event, Winter Wonderland, at PVES, on Saturday, December 3rd, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. This was a brand-new event for our school last year, and it was just wonderful. We look forward to all the upcoming holiday celebrations at our school.

Please remember that our PVES Picture Retake Day will be held right after Thanksgiving break, on Monday, November 28th. Please reach out to our PTA if you have any questions. If students missed our first Picture Day, or if you would like a new photo taken, this is the day for retakes.

Our Lost & Found collection will be displayed in the front main hallway until the end of this week. After that, all remaining items will be donated. Please be sure to label all your child’s clothing items (on inside tags) for school. Thank you!

Wishing you and your loved ones a happy Thanksgiving holiday! Enjoy the special family time, the quiet moments, and the precious time together. These kids grow so fast!

Sincerely,

Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
