Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Welcome to the busy month of May!  Our students are all flourishing in their academic studies this month, and this festive time of year is keeping us all engaged in wonderfully enriching and exciting activities.

Our Spring Scholastic Book Fair will be taking place next week!  All classes will visit the Book Fair at their scheduled times, and the Book Fair should be open during our Open House Nights.  The Open House Night for the families of students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades will be Monday, May 6th, from 7:00 to 7:45 PM.  The Open House Night for the families of students in grades 3 and 4 will be Wednesday, May 8th, from 7:00 to 7:45 PM.  We look forward to seeing you!

Our PTA Spelling Bee is quickly approaching!  Congratulations to our finalists who will be competing in our Auditorium on Monday, May 13th at 7:00 PM.  We wish everyone great success!  All are welcome to attend.

Our PVCSD District Budget Vote will take place on Tuesday, May 21st from 6 AM to 9 PM at the elementary school.  Please be sure that you are registered to vote.  Voter registration will be taking place in the elementary school lobby from 4:00 to 7:30 PM on Monday, May 13th.  Please note that on our Budget Vote day, the elementary kitchen will be open, and school lunches will be served.

Congratulations to our fourth-grade scientists who participated in the Tri-County Science and Technology Fair in White Plains on this past Saturday.  Thirteen of our students presented their research projects in designated science categories to a team of judges, and our students received many Excellent and Outstanding Science Awards.  These children, and their parents, made us so proud, as this was the first time that Putnam Valley Elementary School has participated in this wonderful event.  Thank you to high school student Sarah Broas for bringing us the idea of this amazing academic opportunity!

We are so proud of our third and fourth grade students who took the NYS Math exams with so much confidence and skill this week!  It always amazes us to see how confident and prepared our students are for their academic tasks, and we congratulate the students on their strong work ethic and grit!  They make us so proud!

Enjoy the weekend ahead. We look forward to seeing you at Open House!

Warmly,

Ms. Podesta
