Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Hello, everyone!  We have had such a very busy couple of weeks, and we continue to make the most of every learning day.  The school schedule is always so exciting at this time of year, with many upcoming events and celebrations.  Thank you for maintaining a regular homework and sleep schedule at home for your children and thank you for keeping up with the details of our school days.  It really is such a very special time of year.

Please be reminded that there will be no school on this Monday, May 28th, in honor of Memorial Day.  School will reopen on Tuesday, May 29th.

Congratulations to our fourth-grade students on a wonderful spring concert!  Even with so many weather cancellations that affected practice times, the children amazed us as always.  The students in grades Kindergarten through third grade enjoyed the concert during the day, and the fourth-grade families were treated to the performance at night!  Bravo!

Thank you to our visiting middle school students who have been visiting elementary classrooms over the past two days to teach their “Safe Kids” lessons.  Thank you to all middle school teachers who help to coordinate this special event.  We always enjoy having older students come back to visit our elementary learners.  It certainly helps to bring our community even closer together.

Due to the recent storm, our fourth-grade Revolutionary War Reenactment will now take place on Tuesday, June 12th.  This will be an exciting day of bringing history to life, and we look forward to this special event for our oldest students.

Our school Spirit Week will take place from June 11th through June 15th.  Each day will include a special theme of Kindness, which will involve an opportunity for dress-up and special activities during the school day.  Our school Field Day is scheduled for Thursday, June 14th.  More information will follow on details of that very enjoyable day!

Please take note of the school calendar for the end of the year.  All elementary children will have full days of school during the week of June 18, with the exception of Friday, June 22nd.  On Friday, elementary students will be dismissed at 12:00 PM.  Only staff members will return to school on Monday, June 25th, for a Superintendent’s Conference Day.

Thank you to our special guest readers who visited our school for our Community Read Day at PVES.  Special visitors from our local town and district visited our elementary classrooms to share the love of literature and learning.  Thank you also to Mrs. Dawn Vaccaro who again painted a beautiful poster of a book cover in honor of the day.  We are so fortunate to work with so many wonderful people in our community!

Enjoy the weekend ahead.  Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns as we approach the final month of this school year.  Be sure to check the PTA website for upcoming events.  Thank you for all of your support.

Warmly,

Ms. Podesta
