Dear PVES Families,
Be sure to VOTE this Tuesday at the Elementary School! It is very important that our elementary parents’ voices are heard. Please cast your vote on the District Budget, the Capital Bond Project, and the BOE seats. Voting will take place in the PVES Cafeteria from 6 AM to 9 PM on Tuesday. Thank you!
Our PVES students can vote on Tuesday too! As the children learn about the importance of civic engagement in school, they will have the opportunity to vote in their own Kids’ Vote in a room near the cafeteria. Please bring your elementary students to vote with you. The children will be voting to choose the school field day treat (ice pops or ice cream sandwiches)!
On a very happy note, when the students vote, they will also be able to help name some new baby ducklings that were born in our Science Lab this week! Mrs. Broas has been very busy caring for the many chicks and ducklings that have hatched in our Science Lab! All classes have been able to visit our furry new friends, and this has been a wonderful learning experience. (Thank you, Mrs. Broas who will be keeping three of the ducklings at her home, while the others will go back to a farm). These three ducklings need names, and the children will be able to write in their suggestions when they vote. This is so exciting, and we are so proud to provide these opportunities to our lucky students!
Please join our PVES Planting Party on this Tuesday afternoon anywhere from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. Our families will gather for gardening, music, play, and snacks, and together, we will make our elementary campus even more beautiful. Thank you so much to Mrs. McCarty for organizing this event, and for the many teachers and staff members who are joining in the fun. See you there!
Tomorrow, we look forward to our annual Community Read in the morning. Thank you to our many scheduled classroom guests from our community, and thank you to Mrs. Dawn Vaccaro who has designed a beautiful book poster which will be signed by all and displayed in our elementary building. We are so fortunate to have such supportive community members in Putnam Valley. Our students love this Community Read tradition!
Our elementary students (only) will have a half-day of school on this Thursday, May 22nd. Dismissal for the elementary students will take place at 12:00 noon. All PVCSD schools and offices will be closed on Friday, May 23rd and Monday, May 26th in honor of Memorial Day.
We look forward to our Fourth Grade Spring Concert on Thursday, May 29th, at 7:00 PM. This is sure to be a very special show.
Have a great week ahead! Thank you for voting on this Tuesday, May 20th.
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
