Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Happy Mother’s Day to all our PVES mothers, grandmothers, and loving caregivers. This world is a special place because of your endless love, support, and guidance. Enjoy this day in honor of you, and may your little ones remind you of how special you are!

The month of May is certainly a busy one, and our students continue to amaze us each day. Our first and second graders were treated to a Third Grade Recorder Concert last Wednesday. Congratulations to our wonderful third-grade musicians who also performed for their parents that evening. And thank you to Mrs. Calhoun for your leadership and instruction. The students did a great job!

Please remember to vote in the PVCSD Budget Vote and Elections on this Tuesday, May 16th. Voting will take place in the PVES Cafeteria from 6 AM to 9 PM on Tuesday. It is so important to vote in this election. Thank you for marking your calendars!

At PVES, we enjoyed two very full days of Kindergarten Screening this past week. Thank you to the many parents who visited the school with their little ones and participated in our school tours and information sessions. We are so excited to welcome our newest class of learners in September.

This past week, our school celebrated Nurse’s Day, and we are so fortunate to have both Mrs. Kathy Hill and Mr. Frank Murphy at PVES to keep us safe and healthy every day. Thank you to our amazing nurses who play an integral role in our positive and collaborative school culture. You are the best, Mrs. Hill and Mr. Murphy!

We have many busy days coming up! We are looking forward to our school-wide Community Read tomorrow! Our Fourth-Grade classes will be performing their Spring Concert on Thursday evening, May 25th. (School will be in session on Friday, May 26th). Schools will be closed on Monday, May 29th, in honor of Memorial Day. And our PVES Field Day will be held on Friday, June 2nd, with all children wearing their Field Day t-shirts or grade level colors (rain date on Monday, June 5th). A special dessert treat will be served!

Enjoy this beautiful spring season. Thank you for all you do to support our PVES community. It certainly is a very special place.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Warmly,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
