Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Congratulations to our fourth-grade scientists who were so well-prepared for their Science/Maker Fair presentations last week! The students did such a great job studying, investigating, and preparing for the Fair. Thank you to Mrs. Bruno and to Mrs. Broas for their leadership and guidance with the students. Thank you also to our high school Science Honor students who helped our fourth graders with their learning. We appreciate the parent support and the wonderful attendance at the Science/Maker Fair. It was another amazing event at PVES!

Our district’s next Capital Projects Facilities Meeting will take place this Wednesday, March 12th, at 6:30 PM at the Putnam Valley Middle School. We had great attendance at the last meeting, and we welcome you all to join the conversation. Thank you for your participation!

We are looking forward to the PVES/PTA Musical, “The Jungle Book Kids,” this week! There are still a small number of tickets available for the Friday evening show. Please see the attached flyer if you are interested. All audience members must have a ticket to attend the show this Friday at 7:00 PM. Thank you to Mrs. Bennett, Mr. Durland, and to Mrs. Phillips for their outstanding work with our third and fourth-grade performers.

As we look ahead in March, please note that all staff and students are invited to wear green next Monday, March 17th. We are looking forward to a special assembly by a group of young, local step-dancers on St. Patrick’s Day. This is always such a treat for all! Please also note that there will be no school for students on Monday, March 31st. This will be a Superintendent’s Conference Day for our faculty.

We are quickly approaching the midpoint of the third quarter of the school year. Please check in with your child’s teachers if you have any questions or concerns. Our third and fourth graders will be taking “practice” state tests this week in order to increase their comfort level with the state format. We are so proud of our students’ growth and engagement in learning. This is a time of such great academic progress.

We lost an hour of sleep this weekend, but we will have an extra hour of daylight as the school days end. The season of spring is around the corner. Enjoy the outdoor time with your children. Thank you for always limiting screen time at home and encouraging good homework, reading, and bedtime routines. We are all working together!

Enjoy the warmer week ahead!

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
