Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Happy weekend, and happy busy month of March! Our students returned to school after mid-winter break ready to learn, engage fully in classroom activities, and begin the new month with their very best efforts. We are so proud of our elementary students, and we thank you for all your support, each and every day. We couldn’t do our work without you!

Please be reminded that there will be no school for students on this Friday, March 10th. Our faculty will be participating in meetings and workshops on this Superintendent’s Conference Day. Schools will also be closed for spring break from Monday, April 3rd through Monday, April 10th. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, April 11th.

Our PTA Spring Book Fair is quickly approaching! This Book Fair will be held in our Auditorium from Tuesday, March 28th through Friday, March 31st. Thank you to our amazing PTA for making events such as this possible for our students. We truly appreciate your partnership!

This week, our fourth-grade scientists will be presenting their science investigations at the PVES Science/Maker Fair. This event will take place for parents on Wednesday, March 8th, from 6:30 to 7:10 PM. Thank you to Mrs. Bruno and Mrs. Broas for facilitating this wonderful event. And thank you to our PVHS Science Honor Students who have been guiding and supporting our elementary students with their science research and design. We look forward to great scientific learning and presentations this week!

The PVES Musical, “Annie,” will be performed on Friday, March 24th, at 7:00 PM. Be sure to get your tickets! Thank you to Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Calhoun for their amazing work with our young performers.

All staff and students are welcome to wear the color “green” on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th! Thank you to our wonderful teachers and staff who lead with so much energy and positive spirit each day in our school. We are fortunate to have such a happy, child-centered learning community.

March is Women’s History Month! Our students will continue to study important women in our country’s history through their Social Studies and ELA lessons.

Enjoy the pre-spring temperatures this week. We will be turning the clocks ahead next weekend, with an extra hour of sunlight coming our way soon!

Please always reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great week ahead!

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
