Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Happy first full week of spring, and happy last full week of school before spring break! As predicted, the month of March has flown by, and our students have been very busy in their engaging classrooms and with all our school activities. Please be reminded that schools will be closed from Monday, April 3rd, through Monday, April 10th. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, April 11th. We hope that you enjoy your family holidays.

Congratulations and bravo to the cast and crew of the PTA/PVES “Annie Kids” musical that was performed on Friday night. The children did such an amazing job singing and acting, and we are so proud of this wonderful performance. Thank you to Mrs. Calhoun, Mrs. Phillips, and to Mrs. Bennett (on piano) for all their work with these talented students. The Auditorium was filled with smiles and cheers!

Our PTA Spring Book Fair is being held from Tuesday to Friday this week! The classroom teachers have shared the Book Fair schedule and purchasing information with you. If you have any questions, please contact our PTA volunteers or your classroom teacher. Thank you for your support, and happy shopping!

Our third quarter marking period is quickly coming to an end. After Friday, April 14th, our teachers will be completing updated Progress Reports which will be mailed to you via U.S. mail by April 21st. These brief reports will provide a summary of your child’s progress in both academic and social areas at this important time of the year. As always, if you have any questions or you would like to meet with your child’s teacher(s), please contact the school at 845-528-8092, or email directly. We look forward to this important communication.

PVES will be hosting a Family Math Game Night on Wednesday, May 17th at 6:30 PM. Please mark your calendars! We look forward to an enjoyable evening of math thinking and play with both students and parents. Dessert treats will be provided!

Congratulations to our school psychologist, Mrs. Mary Sullivan, on the birth of her second child, a baby girl. Emilia Ginny Sullivan was born on March 18th, and her big brother Mikey is so proud! We wish the Sullivan family the very best!

Enjoy the week ahead. Thank you for your continued support in all that we do.

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
