Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

We have had such a busy time at PVES, and we are looking forward to four more school days before Spring Break. There will be no school on this Friday, March 29th, through Friday, April 5th. Schools will reopen on Monday, April 8th. I hope that you and your families enjoy a wonderful stretch of time together, celebrating your special days.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Seussical Kids! Our third and fourth-grade performers did such an outstanding job in this PTA/PVES Musical on Friday! Thank you to Mrs. Calhoun, Mrs. Phillips, and to Mrs. Bennett for all your hard work and dedication to this show. The audience was all smiles on Friday night, and we thank our PVES parents for your support as well. Bravo!

Our Spring Book Fair is taking place this week! Thank you to our PTA volunteers who are making this event possible! Please check your child’s class information for the schedule of their Book Fair shopping day. Your child may use cash or the eWallet! There is no pressure to buy anything, but enjoy the Scholastic Book Fair week!

This Thursday, March 28th, will be a PVES Pajama Day! All staff and students are welcome to wear pajamas to school for this community-theme day before break. Our students love these special days, and we enjoy celebrating our learning community together!

This week, Mrs. Bruno, in our Innovation Lab special, will be teaching about the upcoming Solar Eclipse, which will take place on Monday, April 8th. The students will be creating a hands-on project for supervised, safe eclipse viewing, and the students will be learning more about this unique event in our sky. Thank you to Mrs. Bruno for always making the Innovation Lab such an engaging place to be!

Our elementary students are working so hard, and they are making great strides in their academic goals. Regular attendance and punctuality at school matter so much, and we thank you for supporting this at home. Our Third-Quarter Progress Reports will be completed by the end of April. As always, if you have any questions about your child’s progress, please reach out to your child’s teachers. Our communication with you is key!

The month of March certainly flew by! We have been learning about Women’s History Month, amazing science projects, and the beginning of the spring season! We look forward to a busy and productive month of April, hopefully with less rain!

Have a wonderful break! Thank you for all you do to support our efforts at PVES!

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
