Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Have you heard the news? In order to build on our communication efforts, Putnam Valley Elementary School will now be posting more regularly on social media. Please be sure to follow us on these social media accounts! We have now created Facebook and Instagram accounts to keep everyone updated with photos and events! Our X account can be followed at @DrMPodestaMcD. Click on these links for Instagram and Facebook.  Thank you for following! We always have so much to share!

We look forward to the PTA/PVES Spring Book Fair this week! Please check your child’s class visiting schedule for the Book Fair shopping. The Fair will close on Friday morning. Thank you to our PTA volunteers for making this event possible. Happy shopping, happy reading!

Thank you to all who were able to attend PTA Pocketbook Bingo this past Friday. This is always such a successful event. We appreciate all the PTA does to support our schools!

We had a wonderful time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this past week. Once again, PVES was honored to be treated to local Irish Step Dancing students for the whole school to see! This is always such a festive event, and the children just loved it, with lots of clapping and green attire!

Please be reminded that there will be no school next Monday, March 31st. This will be a Superintendent’s Conference Day for staff. Schools will open for students on Tuesday, April 1st.

Our Character Education themes for this month are Persistence, Perseverance, and Determination! Our administrators met with each grade level this past week to discuss these important concepts. Please discuss these themes with your child. What are some things that they are determined to accomplish? How do they show persistence in reaching their goals?

We are looking forward to the Third Grade Recorder Concert on Wednesday, April 9th, at 7:00 PM. All third-grade families are welcome to attend. Please see the concert information that was emailed home last week from Mr. Durland. We are looking forward to another great musical event.

As we look ahead to April, please note that Spring Break will take place from Monday, April 14th through Monday, April 21st. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, April 22nd, Earth Day.

We are very busy working through the second half of the third quarter of the school year. Brief Progress Reports will be shared with parents in mid-April. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teachers. This is a time of great academic growth for our elementary students. Thank you for supporting their good learning habits, punctuality, and regular attendance.

Please check the Weekly Notices for club opportunities for your children. Enjoy the final full week of March. The spring weather is certainly on the way!

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
