Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Welcome to the month of March! We are looking forward to lots of learning and wonderful events at PVES this month, along with some warmer weather on the way! We are still catching up after the school cancellations that came with the great amount of snow that fell last week. However, our students arrived at school on Thursday with big smiles and great energy. We even got to celebrate the 100th Day of School on Friday, with wonderful PV Pride!

Thank you to Mr. Ray Renzo and the custodial staff for the outstanding job they did cleaning up all of the snow on our elementary campus last week. The snow and ice were cleared so that staff and students were safe, and schools could open. We are all ready for spring!

Please be reminded that a district calendar change was made this year, and our Superintendent’s Conference Day will now take place on Friday, March 20th. Therefore, there will be no school for students on March 20th, and school will be in session on March 19th. Our spring break will begin on Monday, March 30th, and will run through Monday, April 6th. Schools will reopen on Tuesday, April 7th.

Our PTA Spring Book Fair will run from Monday, March 23rd through Friday morning, March 27th. All classes will have a scheduled time to visit the fair. The PVES Musical will be held on Friday, March 13th, at 7:00 PM. Tickets are on sale now. Our 4th Grade Science/Maker Fair will be held on Wednesday, March 18th, from 6:30 – 7:15 PM in the PVES Auditorium. And, of course, all staff and students are invited to wear the color green on Tuesday, March 17th, for St. Patrick’s Day. We look forward to a visit from some local Irish Dance students on that day!

March is Women’s History Month, and our students will have related lessons integrated into their ELA and Social Studies curriculum work. We look forward to reading and celebrating our Character Education themes this month of “determination and perseverance.”.

Have a wonderful week ahead and a great start to the new month. It’s sure to be a busy one, with lots of great growth and learning.

Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
