Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

The month of March seems to be coming in like a lion this year!  Thank you for making secondary plans for your children in case of school cancellations, delays, or early dismissals.  Safety must be our primary concern, and our New York winters keep us quite busy.  Please stay safe this weekend, as more winter weather is predicted.

Congratulations to the students of Mr. Sperling’s class on a wonderful presentation of their Shadow Play, “Beyond Wonderland 2,” this afternoon.  Our students in grades 2, 3, and 4 were able to see the show this afternoon, and families are invited to attend tonight’s 6:30 PM performance.  Mr. Sperling, Mrs. Keeler, and Mrs. Bennett have worked so hard with these talented students.  Bravo!

Our Fourth Grade Science/Maker Fair will take place on Wednesday, March 13th, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in our big gym.  We look forward to seeing the wonderful experiments and research studies that our fourth graders have been working on.  We also thank our Science Honor Society students from PVHS who have visited on Thursday afternoons to provide our children with guidance on their projects.  What a wonderful collaborative effort!

As a safety concern, I would like to remind all parents that our students should not be eating on the morning or afternoon bus rides.  All food should be kept in backpacks until the students arrive either at school or at home.  Thank you for your help with this.

We are all looking forward to the PVES Musical Weekend, March 22nd and 23rd.  Thank you to Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Calhoun for your outstanding work with our young actors!

March is Women’s History Month!  Our teachers will be planning lessons that are integrated into our curriculum that support learning around this theme.  If you are ever interested in speaking to our students about a topic which connects with our learning, please let us know!

Our Kindergarten Registration dates are quickly approaching.  We look forward to welcoming our newest families to PVES, and to setting up our Kindergarten Screening appointments for May 20th through May 22nd.

Enjoy the weekend ahead.  March is a wonderful month of learning and growth, as the school calendar is quite smooth.  We just have to watch the weather!

Thank you for all you do!

Warmly,
Ms. Podesta
Principal
