Dear PVES Families,
Welcome to the final week of the school year! We have so much to celebrate, and we are so grateful to all of you for your wonderful support throughout the year. It has truly been a magical one at PVES!
As we begin our final 5 days of school, please note that Thursday and Friday will be half-days for our students. Dismissal will take place at 12:00 on these days. Due to the heat wave, our students will have indoor recess on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. Classes may still go outside for activities, but not for play or athletics. Stay cool and hydrated!
We were so lucky to have such a perfect weather day for our Field Day on Friday! The students enjoyed festivities throughout the day, including Opening Ceremonies, with the national anthem performed by PVHS senior, Hayley Craane! Our faculty surprised our students with an Inflatable Balloon Costume Race, and after all the Field Day athletic/play stations, the children enjoyed the PTA-provided ice cream sandwiches, and a visit to the Bubble Bus! (Thank you, PTA)! Thank you to Mrs. Aurigemma and Mr. Heitman for organizing the outdoor games. It was a fantastic day and a wonderful finale to our Spirit Week!
Please be reminded that everyone attending the 4th Grade Moving Up Ceremony must have a ticket to enter (no exceptions). Our fourth-grade families will attend a short reception in the Auditorium following the ceremony, and they may then sign out their students after this gathering. We are so proud of this fourth-grade class, and we will certainly miss them next year!
This past week, our entire school welcomed the PVHS graduating class for the Senior Cap & Gown Walk. Our staff and students cheered for these wonderful graduates, remembering when they were elementary students themselves. We wish the PVHS Class of 2025 all the very best in their next endeavors! We also enjoyed a 4th Grade Yearbook Breakfast and many classroom celebrations. There are more to come this week!
Final Report Cards will be made available online by late in the day on Friday, June 27th. Hard copies of these Report Cards will be mailed via U.S. mail next week. Summer Work Packets will be provided to all our K-4 students for academic review throughout July and August. Please be sure that your children read daily and practice math facts throughout the summer. All students are invited to participate in our Summer Reading Challenge again this year! More information will be included with your child’s Report Card mailing.
A Summer Boost Camp has been offered to our students who are currently in Grades K through 3. Please check your email for the registration form for these 3 free academic review mornings, which will be held on August 11, 12, and 13, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Over the summer, Mrs. Robey and I will be very busy getting ready for next year! Please call or email if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to another amazing start.
Best wishes to our retirees, Mrs. Cheryl Kahn and Mrs. Kathie Marsico. We wish them well in their next chapters! We also wish the very best to Ms. Leslie Castellanos and Mrs. Erin Fazzino, as they begin their child-care leaves for the 2025-26 school year, and to Mrs. Theresa Boryk, who will be busy with her second baby in the fall months! Such exciting times!
Enjoy the finals days of June. Thank you for being part of our PVES team!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
