Dear PVES Families,
Here we are at the last week of school! And what an incredible year it has been! Thank you all sincerely for your support, your cooperation, and your partnership in your child’s education throughout the year. Our students are so fortunate, and it is an honor to work with them every day.
Due to the weather forecast, our Field Day will take place on Thursday this week (not Tuesday). All students are welcome to wear their grade-level colored t-shirts on Thursday. We look forward to the fun!
Thank you to our amazing PTA who provided a special visit from the Bubble Bus last week! All classes had an amazing time running and dancing in the bubbles. It always makes for such a festive time!
Congratulations to our UPK friends who celebrated the year with their first Stepping Up Ceremony at PVES this past week. The ceremony was so special, and we can’t wait to welcome these students as Kindergarteners next year!
Our Fourth Grade Moving Up Ceremony will take place this Wednesday, June 24th, at 10 AM. All attendees must have a ticket to enter. A small reception will take place after the ceremony in our Courtyard. If families are taking their fourth graders home after the ceremony, the student must be signed out with the classroom teacher. Thank you! We look forward to a very special day, and best wishes to our new middle schoolers! We will miss you!
Our children enjoyed a wonderful Spirit Week last week, with such energy, creativity, and school pride on display each day. Among many writing celebrations and field trips, our third graders were able to visit the newly opened PV School House in town, to learn a bit about living history. Thank you to the Putnam Valley Historical Society for making this possible! And our fourth grade classes participated in Revolutionary War Reenactment activities on our side field. Thank you to the PTA for making this possible, along with representatives from the Living History Education Foundation.
This week, our students have a full week of school, filled with Book Give-Aways, a Bash the Trash Assembly, class parties and movies, and, of course, our Field Day. Please be sure you have signed your child up for the Summer Boost Camp in August if you are interested, and make plans to have your child participate in our Summer Reading Challenge. All classroom teachers will be sending home Summer Review Packets to keep reading and math skills strong over the summer. Thank you for reading with your child every day.
Report Cards will be available online at the end of the week, and hard copies will be mailed via U.S. mail by next week. Class placement for next year will be emailed to you by late August, and class Supply Lists will be available on our school website this summer. If you have any questions, please call our office during summer hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Happy Father’s Day to all our PVES dads, granddads, father figures, and wonderful role models. Please know the very important role that you play in the children’s lives. You are so appreciated!
Enjoy this last week of school. Your children have grown so much, and we are so very proud!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
