Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

And here we are – the final days of an amazing school year! I am so very proud of all our PVES students. It has been a wonderful year of learning, growing, bonding, and developing new interests, skills, and friendships. Thank you to our PVES parents who help to make our positive school culture such a collaborative place. We all benefit from your support and communication, especially the children. We have so much to celebrate!

This past week, PVES was filled with school spirit! Thank you for supporting our theme days by helping your children to dress in certain colors for each day. We had so much fun! Our school had a beautiful Flag Day Ceremony out by the flagpole (in our red, white, & blue), and our classrooms were filled with exciting end-of-year activities. Thank you for your participation!

This week, we will have two full days of school (Tuesday and Wednesday), and two half-days for students with 12:00 dismissals (Thursday & Friday). No lunch will be served on these half days. Report Cards will be available online at the end of the day on Friday, and they will be mailed out via U.S. mail next week. Class placement for next year will not be finalized until mid-August. Thank you for understanding that we do not take teacher requests.

This past week, our incoming Elementary Assistant Principal was appointed by the Board of Education. We are very pleased to welcome Mrs. Carly Robey as our new Assistant Principal, beginning August 1st. Mrs. Robey comes to us with a strong background in elementary and special education, and with a focus on reading intervention. We are so pleased to welcome Mrs. Robey to our PVES family.

Please be sure to check our large Lost & Found Collection in our main lobby this week. All remaining items will be donated to charity after this Friday.

Our students will be taking home classroom materials each night this week. Please be sure to check backpacks carefully and empty them each night. Thank you for being on the lookout for our students’ Summer Work Packets. These (optional) work packets provide a steady academic review for your children throughout the summer. Our PVES Summer Reading Challenge will begin right away. The Reading Challenge information will be sent home to you. Reading daily is so important for our students!

Congratulations to our retirees and to our departing staff members. We wish you all well, and we hope that your time at PVES has been rewarding! Mrs. Picco will be available for communication through the month of July. We thank her for her outstanding work at our school.

Thank you to our talented faculty and staff who give so much every day. These people truly make our school what it is! And congratulations to Mrs. Meaghan Boyle, who received the New York State Education Department Bright Beginnings Award this past week. We are honored to work with Mrs. Boyle every day!

I hope that all our PVES fathers and father figures had a wonderful Father’s Day! Thank you for making such a difference in your children’s lives.

Let’s finish up the school year with big smiles and lots of pride. Congratulations to our Fourth Grade Students who will be “Moving Up” this week. We will miss this wonderful class!

Enjoy the next few days. And thank you for sharing your precious children with us. They are amazing!

Sincerely,

Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
