Putnam Valley Elementary School

Dear PVES Families,

Congratulations to our second-grade classes on a magical performance of “The Fairy Tale Show”!  The students brought such joy to our hearts with their costumes and singing, and the auditorium was filled with smiles.  Thank you to Mrs. Calhoun and the entire second grade team for providing these children with so much guidance and support.  We love to see our students on stage!

Next week is our 6th Annual Spirit Week at PVES!  We will begin the week with Blue and White day!  All staff and students are welcome to show their school pride with lots of blue and white in their attire for the day!  Our Spirit Week continues with dressing as a favorite story book character (or superhero) on Tuesday, Wacky Tacky Wednesday (crazy hair, mismatched clothes), Field Day on Thursday with grade level shirt colors, and Favorite Color Friday!  We will let you know if the Field Day date must change due to weather.  We are hoping for lots of sunshine!

All library books are now due back to the school library.  If you think you might have any books at home, either from our school library, or from your child’s classroom, please return them on Monday.  Thank you for your help with this as we begin to get organized for September!

We had some very special visitors at the elementary school this past Wednesday!  The graduating class of 2019 from PVHS came over to PVES for our fourth annual Cap and Gown Walk through the elementary hallways.  Our teachers and students thoroughly enjoyed this special moment, as we congratulated these fine seniors on this great milestone in their lives.  We are so proud of them!  Our seniors surprised Dr. Wills on the final loop of the walk by escorting her on the parade route as well.  This was a very special moment for all of us, as Dr. Wills will be retiring at the end of June.  PV Pride!

Please be reminded that Tuesday, June 25th is now a half-day of school for our elementary students, with dismissal taking place at 12:30 that day.  The Fourth Grade Moving Up Ceremony will take place at 10 AM that morning, and most fourth graders will be leaving with their parents at 11:45.  Elementary students will then be dismissed at 12:00 on Wednesday, June 26th, with a special send-off for our 4th Graders!

Report cards will be available online and mailed via U.S. mail during the last week of June.  We encourage everyone to read daily over the summer and to have your children participate in the Summer Reading Challenge!  Math fact practice and math games are great summer activities as well!  We want to support the tremendous growth that has been made during this academic year!

Thank you for having your children ready for school each day.  We are still teaching and learning, and every day counts!

Happy Father’s Day to all of the wonderful fathers and grandfathers!  Never forget the influence you have on these children. You play a very important role in their lives!

Enjoy the last full week of the school year!

Warmly,
Ms. Podesta
