Dear PVES Families,
Welcome to June! We have so many successes to celebrate at this time of year, and your children have grown so much since September. As the busy June weeks begin, we will continue teaching, learning, and providing your children with some extra activities that only add to our rich curriculum. Time goes by quickly, and another wonderful school year will be coming to an end.
This past week, our PVES students all took part in the “finalist” vote for the names of the three little chicks that will be kept by Mrs. Broas. The 6 finalists (voted on May 19th in our student vote) were Chicky, Fluffy, Coco, Bob, Rose, and Nugget. And…the winners are: Nugget, Fluffy, and Coco! Our students had so much fun learning about civic engagement, the importance of every vote, and the word majority! We thank all our students and teachers for their participation, and of course we thank Mrs. Broas for bringing these adorable chicks and ducklings to our Science Lab this year.
Congratulations to our fourth-grade classes on the fantastic Spring Concert they performed on Thursday. The Bands and Chorus were wonderful, and we thank Mrs. Bennett and Mr. Durland for their outstanding work with our talented students!
Our elementary children will take part in their Sustainability Fair activities one day of this week, with rotating stations taking place outside. We thank Mrs. Bruno and Mrs. Broas for this important work. Our students are learning so much about how we should properly care for our planet.
This week, our students will also be treated to a wonderful Storytelling Assembly by a guest visitor, Mr. Jonathan Kruk. We thank our PTA for making this assembly possible! In the coming weeks, we will also enjoy a guest musical presenter, Mr. Tom Chapin, and Water Safety assemblies (Gr. K-3) presented in our Auditorium.
Our PVES Spirit Week will be here before we know it! Each day during the week of June 16th through June 20th, our staff and students will enjoy the daily themes that add to the fun and “spirit” of the week. The plans for Spirit Week include: Monday (Crazy Hat & Hair Day); Tuesday (Silly Sock Day); Wednesday (Neon Color Day); Thursday (NO SCHOOL/Juneteenth); Friday (Grade Level T-Shirt Day/Field Day). We always look forward to this fun-filled week, and our Ice Cream Sandwich treats will be ready for Field Day!
Our June Report Cards will be made available online by the afternoon of Friday, June 27th. Hard copies of these Report Cards will be mailed via U.S. mail during the first week of July. Class rosters for next year will be emailed to you by late August.
All PVCSD students will have a half-day of school on Thursday, June 26th, and Friday, June 27th. We will have a 12:00 dismissal on both days.
Just a reminder that it is time to return all school library books! Enjoy the warm week ahead, and thank you for all you have done to make this school year exceptional in so many ways!
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
