Dear PVES Families,
Winter weather has certainly arrived with the new year, and I hope that you are all safe and enjoying the snow. The weather forecast is busy for the next week, so please always have a “back-up” plan for sudden “early dismissal days” or “2-hour delays.” We know that these days of interrupted instruction can be difficult for last minute childcare planning, so it is always good to have a plan in place. Also, if there is ever a weather-related change in dismissal time for our school, please call or email Mrs. Sillery in our office at dsillery@pvcsd.org if you have any change in your child’s dismissal plans. It is important to do that as early as possible to avoid confusion. Thank you!
Schools will be closed next Monday, January 15th, in honor of Martin Luther King Day. Our Winter Break will take place from February 19th through February 23rd.
All third and fourth graders are welcome to sign up for the Kids of Character after-school club until tomorrow. Please contact Ms. Castellanos at lcastellanos@pvcsd.org if you have any questions!
All K-2 families are invited to attend our K-2 ELA Night on Wednesday, January 17th, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Children are welcome, and dessert treats will be served. Please RSVP to the email invite that was sent, or email me directly at mpodesta@pvcsd.org if you would like to attend! This will be an informative evening focusing on our ELA instructional block structure, and the ways in which we are supporting our students to become great readers! Thank you for your participation!
Our next school-wide Pajama Day will take place on this Friday, January 12th. Our staff will be participating on this “Pajamas for Emily” day as an opportunity to help one of our PVHS students, who is recovering from a serious car accident. All students are welcome to wear their pajamas to school on Friday. We wish Emily and her family the very best.
Kindergarten Registration has begun! If you have a child who will be 5 years old by December 1, 2024, please call the school at 845-528-8092 to set up a registration appointment. Please share this information with your friends and neighbors in the school district. Kindergarten Screening with the students will take place later in the spring.
I hope that 2024 has started off nicely for all of you! This is a great time to sit down with your child to set academic and behavioral goals for the new year. We thank you for prioritizing good attendance, punctuality, and regular homework and bedtime routines. This sets up healthy habits that lead to happy, thriving students.
Enjoy the week ahead. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Podesta
Principal
